The last time I came to Silly Al's was in 2007. The taste of their pizza really was memorable. This 3 day weekend I was in Quartzite to buy minerals for our geology department. On Sunday, after a day of shopping and walking, I was hungry and walked into a packed house full of people. I walked up to the bar and ordered a large pizza with meatballs, sausage and pepperoni. I brought my 64 ounce beer growler with me and I had them filled it with Desert Magic IPA. I also ordered a pint as I waited. It took about 35 minutes but it was well worth the wait. I was camping Hi Jolly Camping Area. Getting to my camp I placed to slices on my paper plate and dug right in. Just like I remembered. It was just as delicious as my first time 18 years ago. The meatballs and sausage were very juicy and flavorful and the pepperoni was not greasy at all. The sauce really married all the flavors together. The crust was excellent and folded nicely. The outside crust was soft and airy and the rim of the crust was soft and not too crunchy hard. I had 4 slices and shared some of the outside crust with my dog Frankie. She loved it as did I. If you're ever in Quartzite make sure you stop and grab a pie here but the place gets busy so be patient because their pizza will not disappoint.

This time of year, the place gets packed due to the large RV show and area. Even though the place was packed, we had great service and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Dinner salad is excellent, in a bowl with mozzarella, tomato, olives etc. Pizza as always was great.

Silly Al's Pizza is a solid option if you're in the area and craving pizza. We tried the Al's Combo House Favorite, which was loaded with toppings and had decent flavor. However, we were told the wait for our pizza would be 45 minutes, and when we went to check at 30 minutes, it seemed like the pizza had been sitting out--it was cold by the time we ate it. On the bright side, their garlic cheese bread was absolutely delicious and ended up being the highlight of our meal--we actually enjoyed it more than the pizza! If there's one downside to Silly Al's, it's definitely the long wait times. We visited around 5 p.m., and the overall wait time ended up being 1.5 hours.

We popped in after tanking up our SUV at Az prices right before crossing into Calif. Looked up some local eateries and came upon this 4-starred option. We ordered two baked subs via phone while pumping gas, so that we could maintain our driving pace: the Italian Stallion ($15) and the meatball ($14). Note: they require full payment over the phone for pickup orders The food was ready upon arrival, in less than 15 minutes as promised. The interior on this Thursday mid-afternoon was 80% empty, with just a handful of older bikers at the bar and none of the 15 or so tables were occupied so we opted to sit and eat. The sandwiches were very good (a solid 4/5) with the only complaint being their smallish size for the price. I would estimate they are approximately 9-10 inches long and carried a decent, though not overwhelming, amount of meat. There was a bartender and 2-3 staff. None checked on us the entire time despite sitting close to the kitchen/cashier area. Parking is ample/free. Bathrooms are old but clean. The music leans toward country/western. Wood paneling everywhere and ceilings are low.
